Parent Forum: Understanding Anxiety in Teens: Knowing How & When to Help, 2/8
Join the SHS Parent Association and SHS Student Support Services for an informative discussion on anxiety in teenagers. Learn the difference between normal, motivating stress, and problematic anxiety. If you have a teenager, you are encouraged to attend.

The School Board Moves Forward With Superintendent Search, 1/24
The School Board has chosen national search firm BWP & Associates to lead the search for a new superintendent. The board formally approved the contract at the Tuesday, January 24, 2012 School Board meeting. Please refer to the press release for more details.
School Board Election: Two People Running For Open Seat
There are two people running to fill the seat of retiring Board President Paul Zovic. David Cobb and David Gess have filed papers to run for the open seat on the School Board. It is a three-year term. The election is Tuesday, April 3, 2012.
Superintendent Blane McCann Announces Retirement
After 9 years of dedicated service, Superintendent Blane McCann will retire from the Shorewood School District effective July 9, 2012. At Tuesday’s School Board Meeting, the Board will formally accept Superintendent McCann’s resignation.“I will miss Dr. McCann’s leadership, guidance and advice and am proud to have served as a School Board Member with Dr. McCann as Superintendent,” shared Board President Paul Zovic. Firearms on School Grounds Still Prohibited Under New Law, 11/2
The School District of Shorewood has received a number of questions regarding Wisconsin’s new concealed carry weapons law (Act 35) that went into effect on November 1st and the possible impact our schools, grades Kindergarten through 12 (K-12). Each year as we work to build our budget within the state funding parameters, the District reaches out to the community to assure your voices are heard. To help promote understanding of our budget, we hold annual Town Hall meetings in January where we explain the budget building procedure, school funding formulas and invite your input. The budget discussion and planning continues this Spring.
Transforming Public Education: A Regional Call to Action
In April, our local Cooperative Educational Service Agency (CESA #1) hosted a regional symposium that outlined a vision for public education in Southeastern Wisconsin. The event was the culmination of a year’s work by CESA #1 member superintendents.
